‘Springsteen’ Film Fails Globally

directed by Scott Cooper Springsteen: Deliver from Anywhere Not only did they drop bombs in America; rejected by 7 billion people on earth.

In the U.S., the Springsteen biopic opened with a disappointing box office of $9.1 million. With billions of potential viewers abroad and Springsteen’s global fame, one might assume that the real earnings would be overseas.

Well, that’s not the case.

The film managed to add only $7 million internationally, bringing its total worldwide earnings to a mere $16 million.

How concerning is that?

Box office analysts had predicted a worst-case scenario of $15 million domestically, yet the actual figures fell short of even that projection.

Does this mean it’s time to panic?

As I mentioned previously, it’s been widely noted that Springsteen has spent a substantial part of the last decade distancing himself from many of his core fans, particularly through his support for Donald Trump, which has genuinely alienated many who view him as having unhelpful opinions.

But that’s just in the U.S., isn’t it?

The real question is: did Springsteen’s approach come across as elitist abroad and turn off international fans? The answer might be…

Springsteen has built his career over more than 50 years, not just by connecting with working-class people but also by weaving complex narratives and emotions into his art.

We appreciated him for his authentic connection, for making us feel seen and understood.

But now, things have shifted…

Even loyal fans, who might share his political views, are baffled by the persona he’s adopted, particularly after lengthy tirades against political foes.

In the public eye, like Springsteen, it’s crucial to safeguard both your personal brand and the loyalty of your audience.

Much like figures such as David Letterman and Howard Stern, Springsteen appears to have squandered his goodwill, selling out his integrity and, by extension, his art, creating a rift with his once-loyal base. Now, that discontent is mutual, and…

It’s quite easy to choose not to see a movie in this case.
