California Governor Newsom Hints at 2028 Presidential Run
California Governor Gavin Newsom recently suggested he might consider running for president in 2028. During an interview with Robert Costa on “CBS Sunday Morning,” he admitted he would be “lying” if he claimed he had no plans. He emphasized he wouldn’t resort to dishonesty.
Yet, there are doubts about his truthfulness. Blaze TV host Sarah Gonzalez pointed out that Newsom has a history of bending the truth. Just recently, he shared a story on the “All the Smoke” podcast about growing up with a single mother who supposedly juggled “two and a half jobs” to support him.
Newsom recounted, “It was all about hustling to pay the bills. I remember sitting there with Wonder Bread, watching TV.” The host laughed along as he recalled bouncing a basketball in his backyard daily.
However, there’s some contradiction here, as Gonzalez highlighted that Newsom’s father worked for billionaire Gordon Getty. This raises questions about the authenticity of the poverty narrative Newsom has painted.
In a past interview with Charlie Kirk, Newsom claimed he doesn’t use the term “Latino.” Yet, Gonzalez retorted, stating that his own tweets have referenced the term, mentioning how COVID-19 has disproportionately affected the Latino community, among other points.
Moreover, Newsom has also denied receiving a phone call from President Trump before deploying the National Guard to Los Angeles. “There was no phone call. There was no voicemail,” he asserted, cautioning Americans about the federal government’s actions. Yet, Trump later shared evidence of a 16-minute call they’d had, prompting Gonzalez to question why Newsom would deny something that can be verified.
These instances add layers to Newsom’s public persona, painting him not just as a potential candidate but as a figure whose narratives are increasingly scrutinized.
