Michael Knowles Criticizes Cory Booker for Condemning Violent Language While Supporting Jay Jones

Michael Knowles Critiques Senator Cory Booker on Political Rhetoric

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, conservative commentator Michael Knowles took aim at Democratic Senator Cory Booker from New Jersey. His criticism stemmed from Booker’s denunciation of violent political rhetoric, all while continuing to endorse Jay Jones, the Democratic nominee for Virginia attorney general.

The hearing, themed “Politically Violent Attacks: A Threat to Our Constitutional Order,” saw Booker express his disapproval of political violence from both major parties and emphasize the need for self-reflection. Knowles acknowledged that Booker made a valid point about looking inward, but he remained skeptical of Booker’s endorsement of Jones, noting the contradiction. As of October 6, Booker had not withdrawn his support, according to reports.

“I can’t shake this thought: ‘Jay Jones has the vision, dedication, and integrity to keep families safe and ensure all Virginians receive fair impact in the justice system,’” Knowles stated. “This is Senator Booker’s endorsement of the person who seeks to be Virginia’s attorney general.” He then recounted Jones’s past comments, painting a troubling picture of him as someone who expressed violent fantasies regarding Republicans and their families.

In a 2022 text exchange with Republican state Representative Carrie Coyner, Jones reportedly made violent remarks concerning then-Republican state House Speaker Todd Gilbert and his family, which Knowles referred to in his argument.

While attempting to challenge Booker on his endorsement, Knowles noticed that the senator had left the room but pressed on with his critique. “I think Sen. Booker should practice what he preaches because you can’t have educators who are supposedly guiding students while simultaneously advocating violence against half the population,” he remarked. “It’s inconsistent to support someone who promotes this kind of rhetoric.”

He further added, “As long as someone backs such an endorsement, their statements about political violence ring hollow.”

Other Democrats, including Virginia Senator Tim Kaine and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have continued their support for Jones or abstained from urging him to step down. As of now, there has been no response from Booker’s office regarding these criticisms.
