Cruz Critiques Greene Amid Republican Tensions

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Ga.) recently advised people to disregard Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), implying that her political views are shifting leftward.

With the government shutdown intensifying, criticism of Greene from her fellow Republicans has become more pronounced. During an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Cruz suggested that it’s not worth the effort to focus on Greene’s statements.

“I’ve noticed that when elected officials turn against Israel, they start to adopt very liberal policies across the board,” he commented. Cruz added that Greene seems to now support increased government spending, higher taxes, and open borders—positions he believes don’t resonate with the American public. “We’re currently dealing with the 29th day of, frankly, a ridiculous shutdown,” he remarked.

This sentiment echoes a call from Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), who urged Greene to refrain from publicly critiquing House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.). “If this issue means so much to her, she should draft a bill and share her solutions,” Moreno said on CNN’s “The Source,” encouraging a more constructive approach rather than just criticism.

Greene had previously expressed dissatisfaction with Johnson during a conference call, arguing that he hadn’t proposed any plans to replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This comes amid ongoing Democratic efforts to extend ACA tax credits before they expire.

“While Mr. Johnson claims to have numerous policy ideas and that relevant committees are working on it, he didn’t provide a single proposal to the Republican conference,” Greene stated, sharing her frustrations on social media. “Looks like I’ll have to dig deeper into the Republican health care plan,” she added with a hint of sarcasm.

In July, Greene stirred controversy by calling the situation in Gaza a “genocide” and criticized the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), suggesting it should register as a foreign lobbyist.

On One America News Network (OANN), she went further, claiming, “Israel is fully capable of defending itself and has shown a willingness to annihilate its enemies.” Her comments about the ongoing conflict were polarizing, to say the least.

Notably, Cruz previously dismissed Greene’s critiques of Johnson, labeling her attempts to remove him from leadership as “stupid.” He warned that such actions could lead to chaos and hand over control to Democrats. “I don’t see how what she’s doing is beneficial for the country; the chances of a more conservative speaker are, frankly, zero,” he concluded.
