Cuomo Critiques Mamdani in Final Campaign Ad

Andrew Cuomo, an independent candidate for mayor in New York City, harshly criticized Democratic Socialist challenger Zoran Mamdani in his latest campaign advertisement, released just days before the election.

In the ad, Cuomo stated, “Life in New York is tough right now, and candidates who need on-the-job training can’t solve that.” His comments raise concerns about Mamdani’s experience.

Cuomo continued, expressing his vision for the city: “I see a new day just around the corner, with 5,000 more police officers, more homeless people taken off the streets, and 500,000 new affordable housing units built.” The ad concluded with a call to action for New Yorkers to support Cuomo on November 4.

Despite recent polls showing Mamdani with a significant lead, Cuomo seems to be narrowing the gap. A recent report suggests “Democrats are nervous” about Mamdani’s potential win.

In a Fox News appearance earlier this month, Cuomo labeled his opponent, a two-term lawmaker at just 33 years old, as inexperienced, claiming he has “passed three bills” and has “the worst attendance record in Congress.”

Cuomo remarked, “He has never done anything. Mayor of New York City is not his first job. There is no time for on-the-job training when a mass murder or terrorist attack could occur on any given morning.” He emphasized that New Yorkers understand the importance of experience in leadership.

During a debate in mid-October, Cuomo reiterated his criticisms, saying, “He has no experience.” He further stated, “He has literally never had a job. His resume says he interned for his mother. This is not a job for a beginner. God forbid, you never know when a hurricane, 9/11, or a health pandemic will happen. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you’ll die.”

In response, Mamdani countered, questioning why New Yorkers would turn to Cuomo during a health crisis when his administration has faced serious criticisms. He quipped, “If we’re in a health pandemic, why would New Yorkers turn to a governor who is letting seniors die in nursing homes?”

Mamdani also stressed, “What I lack in experience I make up for in integrity, but what you lack in integrity I will never make up for in experience.” The candidate emphasized the importance of honesty alongside experience in leadership.
