Podcast Host Calls on Democrats to Change Approach After Protest Reactions
Former “Bravo” star and liberal podcast host Jennifer Welch reacted humorously to footage of “No Kings” protesters who were celebrating the death of activist Charlie Kirk. She suggested that Democrats should take these voters into account moving forward.
Welch said, “If you believe this Zoran thing is just confined to New York, you’re mistaken,” referencing clips from her podcast “I’ve Had It” and showing footage of conservative activist Caitlin Bennett interacting with protesters discussing Kirk.
After Kirk’s death, one older female marcher expressed, “Oh, he’s a terrible person. It’s great that he’s gone.” When Bennett sought clarification, the marcher confirmed, “Yes, I’m glad he’s dead,” mentioning Kirk’s negative impact on college campuses.
Bennett pointed out that the marcher had a similar role to Kirk when he was alive and questioned if she would be pleased if she passed away too. The marcher replied, “Maybe we should think about it,” prompting laughter from Welch.
Welch went on to say, “Listen to the Democratic establishment. You can either get on board, or we’ll come after you like we did with MAGA.” She urged Democratic leaders to halt funding from the pro-Israel group AIPAC and to distance themselves from major rallies. Welch expressed admiration for more anti-establishment Democrats and activists who shared their views on Kirk.
She declared, “I salute Bernie, AOC, Zoran, and that woman who said Kirk was a racist. We’re more numerous than they are. Democrats who play nice with corporations aren’t appealing to anyone.”
Zoran Mamdani’s rise as the Democratic candidate for New York mayor has garnered considerable attention, stirring both support and critique within the party. While some want to distance themselves from his controversial statements, others see him as a sign of progressive change.
