Motek Expands to Manhattan with New Location

Happy Corner Hospitality, known for its Miami-based Motek brand, is set to open its latest eatery at a prime spot in Manhattan.

The new lease has been signed for 60 W. 57th St., situated at the prominent southeast corner of Sixth Avenue and 57th Street. This busy intersection has hosted various establishments for 25 years, according to reports.

Spanning 6,700 square feet, this Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cafe is anticipated to welcome diners in the spring, as confirmed by a spokesperson.

This will mark Motek’s flagship location in Manhattan, adding to their already successful branches in Flatiron and Williamsburg. It will take over the space previously occupied by Seraphina on the Upper West Side.

Motek secured this location after the closure of the French brasserie last spring. According to officials, it outperformed several other well-known restaurant brands vying for the coveted corner.

Details about the lease terms have not been revealed.

Charlie Levy, founder of Happy Corner and a former New Yorker, expressed that this opening holds personal significance. “For me, New York embodies possibility, energy, culture, and everything Motek is about,” he stated. “It feels like a return to our roots.”

The new Motek promises a blend of Mediterranean flavors with classic New York design features. Its menu is set to boast “kosher-style” options that are entirely free from seed oils. According to the restaurant’s website, this choice aligns with their commitment to offering fresh and healthy cuisine.

While the specific menu for the new location hasn’t been disclosed, the popular Flatiron Motek serves a variety of street food, including hummus, mezze, shawarma plates, crispy chicken schnitzel, salads, kebabs, and steakhouse cuts.

This new establishment aims to rejuvenate a section of West 57th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, which has seen numerous closures and demolitions in preparation for ongoing development.

Renderings featured in the article illustrate Motek’s facade without the pedestrian bridge that has obstructed the 57th Street entrance for many years. However, it remains uncertain if this will be addressed before the grand opening.
