King Charles III Moves to Remove Prince Andrew’s Royal Title
King Charles III has initiated formal steps to revoke Prince Andrew’s royal title. Some royal commentators suggest that jealousy played a significant role in this decision.
According to various royal experts, the tension between Andrew and Prince William has escalated, partly due to Andrew’s feelings of envy. They pointed out that the rise in popularity of Princess Kate Middleton seemed to provoke Andrew, who felt overshadowed by her growing status as a beloved figure within the royal family. Meanwhile, Andrew has been embroiled in numerous scandals that have damaged his reputation.
Fox News reported that Prince Andrew and Prince William’s relationship has suffered as a result of their disagreements.
British royal commentator Hilary Fordwich stated, “The feud between William and Andrew primarily stems from Andrew’s jealousy and his negative remarks about Duchess Kate.”
Fordwich added that William was extremely protective and had zero tolerance for any scandal involving Andrew. “It was particularly unsettling for Andrew to lose the favored status he once held with his mother, Queen Elizabeth II,” she noted. “His fury grew as his popularity waned, compounded by Kate’s increasing public acclaim and grace.”
Another expert, Ian Pelham Turner, shared similar views, remarking that senior royals are reluctant to be outshined by younger members of the family.
He further described Andrew’s desire for more recognition from his daughters, suggesting that witnessing Kate in a position of protection with William was like waving a red flag. It was also rumored that Andrew harbors ambitions of becoming king instead of Charles.
In August, British author Andrew Rowney released an unauthorized biography titled “The Rise and Fall of the House of York,” which includes claims that Andrew was “disrespectful” to Kate. Rowney indicated that, according to sources, Andrew may have been rude to her because he thought she did not meet noble standards to marry William.
Recently, King Charles began the process to strip Andrew of his title, honors, and style, which has been reported across multiple news outlets. Buckingham Palace confirmed that Andrew would now be referred to as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. He has also been asked to vacate his residence.
The palace noted that a formal notice to end his tenancy has been issued, with plans for him to relocate to private accommodation. “These actions are considered essential, even as he continues to deny the allegations against him,” the Palace stated.
On October 17, Andrew announced his decision to forfeit his title as Duke of York along with other royal distinctions amid ongoing allegations, including those from Virginia Giuffre, who claims she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and had a relationship with Andrew.
