Sean “Diddy” Combs has been moved to Fort Dix as of Thursday morning to commence his sentence related to federal sex crimes, as confirmed by Fox News Digital.
The 55-year-old rapper was convicted in July on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution and received a sentence in October of over four years in prison.
His projected release date is May 8, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Diddy will serve 50 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, along with a $500,000 fine. Prosecutors had suggested a much longer sentence of 135 months, which is just over 11 years.
Since his arrest on September 16, 2024, he had been held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
His attorney, Tenny Geragos, sent a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian on October 6, requesting the Bureau of Prisons to recommend Fort Dix for Diddy.
In the letter, Geragos mentioned that the prison’s RDAP program could help Combs tackle substance abuse issues while facilitating family visits and rehabilitation.
A jury found Diddy guilty on July 2 of the two counts related to prostitution. He was, however, acquitted of more serious charges involving racketeering and sex trafficking.
Prosecutors argued for a more substantial prison sentence, citing that Diddy displayed a lack of remorse in a recent recommendation.
While in jail, Diddy was reportedly placed on “constant suicide watch,” with his lawyer alleging harsh conditions including limited access to clean water, food contamination, inadequate physical therapy, and malfunctioning laundry facilities.
Just days before his sentencing, a federal judge dismissed Diddy’s final plea for a new trial or a complete acquittal, stating that the evidence against him was overwhelming.
