Tragic Discovery in Lynwood Apartment Complex
A Southern California community was left in shock after the body of a 7-year-old boy was found in a neighbor’s freezer. The grim discovery was made in an apartment complex on Euclid Avenue in Lynwood during a welfare check by law enforcement.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that the call prompted officers to investigate the situation late on a Tuesday evening. Upon discovering the child’s body, they took action against the boy’s mother, Destiny Harrison, age 25, who was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Harrison’s father, 25-year-old Daniel Monzon, and her 46-year-old mother, Ana Zarceno Carcamo, were also apprehended. They face charges of conspiracy to commit murder. Compounding the tragedy, the couple had three other children aged 16, 13, and 9 months, who were subsequently taken into protective custody.
Details about the investigation remain sparse, but concern for the well-being of the surviving children has been a focus. “This is an unimaginably horrifying tragedy,” commented Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn. She expressed her intent to assist the Sheriff’s Department and stressed the importance of support for the other children involved.
Residents shared their disbelief upon learning about the incident. One neighbor, who chose to remain anonymous, described the boy’s mother as “normal,” noting she often walked her dog without any signs of distress. Another neighbor, Christian Torres, expressed a visceral reaction, stating, “When I found out it was a child, I was literally driving home in anger.” He reflected on the broader implications of such events occurring in close proximity.
Another resident, identified only as Mia, lamented the tragedy, asking why no one seemed to know about the children. “It’s devastating to think that that child had to suffer so much,” she said, voicing her frustration about the lack of awareness in the community.
The suspects are currently held on $2 million bail each as investigations continue, leaving the community grappling with the weight of this heartbreaking situation.
