Former Dolphin Richie Incognito stirs controversy by asking for Mike McDaniel's dismissal

Dolphins Fans Call for Manager Change Following Loss

After the Miami Dolphins’ 28-6 defeat against the Ravens on Thursday Night Football at Hard Rock Stadium, many are calling for a change in management, including former Pro Bowl offensive lineman Richie Incognito Jr. He played for the Dolphins from 2010 to 2013 and expressed his frustration, saying it might be time for team owner Stephen Ross to make significant changes.

Incognito stated plainly, “I’ve seen enough,” in a private post on X after the Dolphins dropped to a 7-2 record. He added, “This team is done with Mike McDaniel. It’s time for Mr. Ross to clean house and reset the culture.”

Incognito is perhaps best remembered for his involvement in the controversial Bullygate scandal in 2013, which involved the harassment of teammate Jonathan Martin. It’s worth noting that he has never played for McDaniel, who began coaching with Miami in 2022.

During a recent pregame show on Prime Video, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport noted that McDaniel’s position seems uncertain. He mentioned that while Ross still has faith in McDaniel, the coach’s future may hinge on how players respond to him in the locker room.

Rapoport remarked, “Are they going to continue to play for him or not? That will be key in determining if he keeps his job.” Just last week, Rapoport relayed that while Ross wasn’t actively seeking a coaching change, he had reservations following the Dolphins’ 31-6 loss to the Browns in Week 7.

The Dolphins’ missteps played a large role in their loss Thursday night. The team’s only points came from two field goals by Riley Patterson, one from 49 yards and another from 43 yards. Meanwhile, the defense struggled against Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns despite missing the previous three games due to a right hamstring issue.

The home crowd did not hold back their disappointment, responding with boos as the Dolphins exited the field. Following the game, McDaniel acknowledged the fan frustration, saying, “You want to fix something. And, yeah, that sucks. That sucks.” He continued, recognizing that winning is what fans ultimately want and emphasized the need for improvement.

Looking ahead, the Dolphins will face the Bills (5-2) next Sunday in Miami.
