College Football Player Collapses During Game
A college football player faced a frightening situation on Saturday when he collapsed on the field in Iowa.
Benjamin Brahmah, playing tight end for Iowa State, fell after attempting to walk away from a tackle. He had to be carried off the field after briefly trying to stand up post-impact from a hard throw by Arizona State’s Keith Abney II.
During the fourth quarter, with the Cyclones trailing 24-19, Brahmah clearly felt the hit. Initially, he attempted to walk off the field towards the sideline but lost his balance, fell, and eventually sat down on the grass before paramedics transported him on a stretcher.
Head coach Matt Campbell later mentioned that Brahmah was hospitalized purely as a precaution, and the updates have been encouraging. “So far, the feedback we’ve gotten has been positive… It’s tough to watch, but Ben is incredibly resilient,” Campbell said.
Quarterback Rocco Becht expressed relief that Brahmah was conscious and noted, “We’ll miss him. He’ll be back stronger.”
Brahmah had previously caught a touchdown during the game and remained alert when leaving the field, according to commentators.
On the opposing side, Arizona State quarterback Jeff Sims had a remarkable performance, setting a record with 228 rushing yards and totaling 405 yards of offense, along with three touchdowns. His 88-yard touchdown run in the third quarter significantly boosted the Sun Devils’ lead.
The Cyclones, now sitting at 5-4 overall, have unfortunately suffered four consecutive losses, culminating in a situation where they fell short of a first down just yards from a potential game-tying score.
