Eric Dane Spotted on Family Outing Amid ALS Battle

Eric Dane was seen enjoying a rare outing with his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and their daughter, Georgia, as he continues to cope with ALS.

The actor, known for his role in “Countdown,” was photographed in a wheelchair while heading to the popular Sushi Park in West Hollywood on Thursday with his family. He sported a casual black T-shirt and beige pants, appearing to be in good spirits. Gayheart wore black leather pants paired with a white top, and occasionally, Dane had on a black puffer jacket. Georgia also matched her dad with her black T-shirt.

This outing comes about a month after the 52-year-old actor disclosed that he missed the “Grey’s Anatomy” reunion at the Emmy Awards due to a fall that resulted in hospitalization. “ALS is a tricky disease,” he shared in a recent interview, referring to his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

He recounted his experience, saying, “I ended up in the hospital getting stitches in my head during the Emmy Awards ceremony,” expressing his disappointment about missing such a significant event. “There was nothing I could do about it,” he added.

Dane revealed his diagnosis back in April, expressing gratitude for having his loving family by his side during this challenging time. Gayheart, who married him in 2004 and has a 15-year-old daughter named Billie, discussed how the illness has impacted their daughters. It’s, well, heartbreaking for them, she mentioned at a recent event, noting that the girls are trying to cope day by day.

They’ve enlisted professional therapists to help navigate this difficult journey, focusing on maintaining hope and dignity, according to Gayheart. Despite the challenges, she noted that the situation has brought the family closer together, emphasizing that regardless of their marital status, Eric will always be part of her family. ALS is a particularly cruel disease, she added.

Interestingly, Dane’s relationship with Gayheart has had its ups and downs. They finalized their divorce in March, shortly before his diagnosis became public. The couple initially separated in February 2018, citing irreconcilable differences. Even so, Gayheart characterized their relationship as strong, saying, “We’re best friends. We’re really close. We’re great co-parents.”
