Kentucky woman gets package of human 'arms and fingers' instead of her medicine

Unexpected Delivery in Kentucky

A woman in Kentucky got quite the shock when she opened a package she was expecting—only to find a severed human arm and finger on ice. This eerie discovery happened at her home in Hopkinsville on a Wednesday.

According to reports from The New York Times, she quickly dialed 911, clearly alarmed by what she had uncovered.

During the call, she expressed that she anticipated receiving emergency medication. “I was hoping for emergency medication to be airlifted in like at the Nashville airport, but they delivered two boxes,” she explained.

Upon opening one of the boxes, the woman said, “When we opened the box, we found out that it was a human body part for transplant. It seems to have very medicinal properties.” She further insisted they wanted to know the origin of the body parts. “We just didn’t want to get a body part that doesn’t belong to us,” she added.

Emergency responders soon contacted Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel, who reported later that two arms and four fingers were retrieved. The limbs were then taken to a local morgue where a courier later collected them. The coroner mentioned that it wasn’t immediately clear which courier service was responsible for the unsettling delivery.

The package, it seems, had actually originated in Nashville and was intended for a school or hospital for surgical training, according to the coroner. In a surprising detail, he noted that the body parts belonged to four different individuals.

While the name of the woman remains undisclosed, the coroner did confirm that necessary medical supplies were delivered the following day. When it came to the body parts’ source, he admitted, “I didn’t ask,” but speculated, “So, obviously, I think they came from donated cadavers.”

In light of the strange circumstances, he advised anyone in a similar situation to report it to authorities instead of trying to handle it themselves. “I think she did the right thing,” he concluded.
