Josh Simmons Returns to Chiefs Facility
Starting offensive tackle for the Chiefs, Josh Simmons, is back at the team’s facility after missing four games due to personal matters. Reports from NFL Network suggested this news on Monday.
The Chiefs are currently enjoying a bye week, following their 28-21 loss to the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday. This pause in the schedule will give Simmons a chance to get readjusted before they face the Broncos in Denver on November 16.
There’s some uncertainty regarding whether Simmons will make it back for Week 11. He, a first-round pick from this year’s draft, hasn’t announced yet whether he’ll be available for the upcoming game.
Details surrounding his personal issues haven’t been disclosed by the Chiefs. However, head coach Andy Reid indicated that Simmons has been in touch with the team following their 28-7 win over the Commanders on October 27. He noted, “The only update I have with Josh is that we are communicating. It’s a positive situation, and he’s taking care of his family.”
At just 22 years old, Simmons played in the first five games of the season, contributing a substantial 95 percent to the Chiefs’ offensive snaps. With him sidelined, Jaylon Moore stepped in at left tackle to help protect quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ blind side.
Interestingly, Simmons was first listed as dealing with family issues in Week 6, which was officially noted prior to their game against the Lions on October 12. At that time, the team emphasized that his absence was not due to an injury. Simmons later expressed that he was handling matters related to his family back in California. The Chiefs went on to win that game against Detroit 30-17.
