Just when you thought the challenges of fantasy football couldn’t get any worse, here we are again. Week 9 saw teams shaken up by injuries, and now, losing your starting quarterback is a tough pill to swallow. Kyler Murray and Brock Purdy were already out, and now Jaden Daniels is looking at a dislocated elbow, likely sidelining him for the rest of the season. You’re left scrambling to find a reliable quarterback on the waiver wire.
With four more teams on bye in Week 10, the options for streaming are drying up fast. Sure, it’s not like other big names like Patrick Mahomes or Dak Prescott were available, but the likes of Joe Flacco and Cam Ward are now also off the table. C.J. Stroud would have been a solid pick against Jacksonville at home, but he missed Sunday due to a concussion and will need to pass through NFL protocols before he can get back on the field.
If either of the New York quarterbacks is still free, I think they’re worth a shot. Jackson Dart has been impressive for the Giants, even without top receiving options. Both he and Justin Fields can rack up an extra 5-10 fantasy points thanks to their running skills. Dart is up against a Bears secondary that’s been beaten down by injuries—not a good matchup for them. Meanwhile, the Jets are set to play the Browns, who have shown they can shut down running backs but really struggle against scrambling quarterbacks.
We just witnessed Sam Darnold taking apart the Washington Commanders, and next he’s facing a troubled Arizona defense at home. With Tory Horton now joining Jackson Smith-Njigba, Seattle’s passing game is looking even stronger. Plus, we saw JJ McCarthy return to action in Minnesota. He may be up against a Ravens defense that’s improved, but with a healthier offensive line and standout players like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison at his disposal, he could be a solid pickup.
You might also want to consider Bryce Young from the Panthers. They’re coming off an unexpected victory against the Packers and will soon take on the Saints, who haven’t been as tough as expected. Despite not giving up a ton of yards through the air, they have a glaring weakness in allowing a high passer rating to opposing quarterbacks. If you’re familiar with Saints corner Alonte Taylor, maybe consider pairing Young with Tetailoa McMillan for an added boost.
Before you start stressing over the loss of Daniels and the possible collapse of your fantasy team, remember that Week 10 offers plenty of options for finding streamers. Can you still grab something that leads to championship contention? Certainly. But maybe it’s wiser to approach one week at a time.
