Mansour’s Social Media Post Celebrates Significant Events
Pro wrestling star Mansour Al Shehail, known as Mansour, took to social media on Tuesday to comment on two major events: the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney and the election of Zoran Mamdani as the new mayor of New York City.
In his post, Mansour shared a photo with TNA Wrestling star Mustafa Ali while wearing a T-shirt featuring WWE legend The Great Khali. He wrote, “Dick Cheney is dead and a Muslim is now mayor of New York, we will rise.” This statement certainly sparked some controversy online.
Cheney’s death was announced early Tuesday morning; he was 84 years old. He served as vice president under George W. Bush during pivotal years that included the 9/11 attacks and the subsequent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In other news, Mamdani, a democratic socialist, recently won against former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, in what was described as a heated election battle, earning criticism from Donald Trump.
In his victory speech, Mamdani emphasized the immigrant roots of New York, stating, “New York is a city of immigrants, built by immigrants, driven by immigrants, and starting tonight, it will continue to be a city led by immigrants.” He notably urged Trump to remember the collective strength of the city’s residents.
Meanwhile, Mansour has made a name for himself in various wrestling promotions globally, even appearing in Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Top 500 Singles Wrestlers in 2021. His recent post, while drawing attention, also brought some backlash on social media platforms.
The news surrounding Cheney’s passing included a statement from his family highlighting his struggles with pneumonia and cardiovascular disease, mentioning that he was preceded in death by his wife Lynn and their daughters Liz and Mary.
