Convicted Child Abuser Was Accommodated in UK Hotel for Migrants

Government Angers Local MPs Over Housing Convicted Pedophile

The British government’s decision to house a convicted pedophile, wanted in Germany, in an immigration hotel has sparked outrage among local MPs. They’re particularly upset that the government has reportedly funded his legal defense against extradition.

Izarden Alsheikh Suleman, a 32-year-old, was detained by the National Crime Agency (NCA) at the Britannia Ashley Hotel in Hale last month. He now faces possible deportation to Germany due to allegations of child sexual offenses.

Concerns have been raised about why this convicted individual was placed in the hotel, which has been utilized for alleged asylum seekers since 2023, instead of being deported immediately.

Local councilor Conor Land expressed his frustration in an interview with Altrincham Today. He remarked, “People like this should never have been allowed into the country. I’m aware they’re facing extradition now, and I’ll be contacting the Home Office to push for their swift deportation.”

Mr. Land further revealed that the NCA didn’t inform local authorities—including himself and the Greater Manchester Police—about the apprehension of Mr. Suleman.

“We appreciate the NCA for apprehending a dangerous individual, but it’s frustrating that residents were left unaware of such a serious situation,” he noted.

As a member of the ruling left-wing Labor Party, Mr. Land called on the government led by Starmer to shut down migrant accommodations at both the Ashley Hotel and the Cresta Court Immigration Hotel. He mentioned he’s received promises regarding their closure, though no specific timeline was given.

Nathan Evans, general secretary of the Trafford Conservative Party, condemned the housing of a convicted pedophile in a hotel, describing it as “outrageous.” He expressed discontent with how they’ve been ridiculed by various political factions and cited a letter from the church criticizing their concerns as inappropriate.

When the Ashley Hotel was previously designated to house migrants by the former Conservative government in 2023, then-MP Sir Graham Brady labeled it as “the most clearly inappropriate place imaginable” for alleged asylum seekers.

In the following year, the government also designated the Cresta Court Hotel in Altrincham for asylum seekers, with reports indicating around 300 migrants are still being housed in hotels at taxpayer expense.

The situation of housing convicted criminals in immigrant hotels comes amidst growing protests regarding plans to accommodate undocumented immigrants, primarily young men, in hotels across the country, raising safety concerns for local women and girls.

These demonstrations began in July after Ethiopian immigrant Hadush Kebatu was accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl outside the Bell Hotel in Epping, where he was held after crossing the English Channel. In a troubling turn, Kebatu was mistakenly released early from prison, leading to a nationwide manhunt.

After facing initial denial from authorities while trying to surrender, Kebatu was ultimately arrested. Miraculously, he was given £500 in taxpayer money for voluntary departure. Suleman hasn’t received any cash directly, but the government is financing his legal defense for the extradition processes back to Germany.

The Home Office stated, “Mandatory security checks are crucial for border control and will be enacted upon arrival of all small boats. If we identify any criminals or threats, we will work swiftly to address them.”
