Don’t Stop Believing
Will Smith recently shared his thoughts with the “MLB on FOX” crew regarding the thrilling Game 7 of the 2025 World Series, where the Los Angeles Dodgers triumphed over the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Dodgers clinched their championship with a nail-biting 5-4 victory in Game 7, leading to celebrations in Los Angeles just two days later. However, one notable absence stood out during the festivities.
Relief pitcher Alex Bashear had left the team just before the World Series and didn’t participate in the games that followed. The Dodgers disclosed that Bashear and his wife, Kayla, are dealing with personal matters that will keep them away from the team for some time.
In a statement from October 23, the Dodgers organization expressed their support for the Beshear family, promising to offer updates when appropriate.
The couple had recently announced they were expecting a baby girl, sharing their excitement on social media. The last post from either Bashear or Kayla appeared on October 18, showcasing their journey to the World Series.
After the Dodgers secured back-to-back championships, teammate Will Klein expressed sentiments about Bashear, saying the team had reached out to him. “We just want him to know he’s in our hearts and we did it all for him,” Klein remarked.
He added that the pressures of the World Series are immense and acknowledged the tough situation Bashear is facing. Klein emphasized that it’s about more than just baseball, highlighting the unity and support among teammates. He mentioned that the Blue Jays also showed respect towards Bashear during this time.
This season, Bashear participated in 68 regular-season games and seven postseason games, marking his significant contribution to the team.
