Former Miss USA Critiques Miss Universe Official After Controversial Remarks

Former Miss USA, Noelia Voight, confronted an official from the Miss Universe Organization for labeling a beauty queen a “dummy” during a tense incident that resulted in several contestants being removed from the event.

Voight expressed her support on Instagram for Fatima Bosch, Viktoria Kjaer Teilwig, and the other contestants who chose to walk out of the Miss Universe 2025 Orientation in Thailand. She described her feelings of shock and disappointment after viewing a video of the event online.

Bosch, representing Mexico in this year’s competition, was reprimanded by MUO executive director Nawat Isaragrisil prior to the annual sash ceremony. The public live stream captured Isaragrisil questioning Bosch’s absence from a sponsorship shoot and implying she was disregarding guidance from her country’s director.

During a four-minute exchange, Isaragrisil called Bosch a “dummy,” which led to growing agitation among the contestants. Bosch defended herself, insisting on her right to speak up, saying, “You don’t respect me as a woman.”

This confrontation caused Isaragrisil to order security to remove Bosch from the room. Voight empathized with Bosch, reflecting on her own experiences of having her voice overlooked during her time in pageantry.

She criticized the environment, stating that there should be no space for authority that lacks humility on a platform meant to support women. Voight emphasized the importance of treating everyone, especially those representing their nations, with respect and dignity.

Voight had previously stepped down as Miss USA after just seven months due to mental health concerns. It came to light that both she and Miss Teen USA 2023, Umasofia Srivastava, left their titles because of a “toxic work environment” fostered by the organization’s leadership.

In her Instagram post, Voight condemned Isaragrisil’s actions, describing the public humiliation of Bosch and the intimidation tactics directed at the contestants as utterly unacceptable.

After the incident, the majority of the Miss Universe contestants, led by Teilwig, left the ballroom, defying Isaragrisil’s threats of disqualification. Isaragrisil later issued an apology for causing discomfort to viewers of the livestream.

Voight had a clear message for Isaragrisil: accountability matters. She stated that it’s not enough to regret behavior only when caught and that such treatment should not be tolerated, whether in public or private settings.

In closing, Voight praised Bosch and Teilwig for their bravery, noting the historic significance of their stand against disrespect and dehumanization. She commended them for sending a powerful message of resilience to the world.
