Elise Stefanik Launches Campaign Against Governor Hochul

Elise Stefanik, a Republican representative from New York, is set to kick off her campaign against Governor Kathy Hochul this Friday, according to reports from the Post.

“We’ve traveled all over the state and the message is clear—Republicans, independents, and even some Democrats believe it’s time for a new governor to turn things around,” Stefanik mentioned in her conversation with the Post.

A recent poll from North Country Poll sharply criticized Hochul, stating, “She is responsible for the disaster from top to bottom,” while also calling out Zoran Mamdani, the incoming mayor of New York City, who is currently in Puerto Rico for a political event.

Stefanik, a staunch supporter of former President Trump, is anticipated to announce her candidacy through a video message. She aims to be the first Republican governor in New York in two decades, emphasizing her goals of making the state “affordable” and “safe again.”

“New York is practically a one-party state,” she observed. “Under Kathy Hochul’s ineffective leadership, our taxes, utility costs, and rents have skyrocketed. It’s no wonder people are leaving in large numbers.”

Stefanik also drew connections between Hochul and Mamdani, saying, “You have this disastrous mayor who barely broke 50% in the election. He’s tied to socialist policies, defunding the police, and he’s gotten very little pushback from Kathy Hochul.”

Elise Stefanik is already carving a path for her campaign, citing various failures as reasons for her run. “Kathy Hochul has fully backed the idea of raising taxes, and she’s catered to those who have defunded the police,” she said. Moreover, she claimed that bail reform has been catastrophic, leading to dangerous criminals being released into communities.

Interestingly, after Hochul endorsed Mamdani, there appears to be a shift among traditional Democrats, with some expressing their discontent and calling for new leadership. “They’re saying they’re done with Hochul and want to see someone else take the lead, and hey, we want that Republican backing,” Stefanik concluded.
