‘Nancy Pelosi Deserves My Praise’: MTG Shares Her Admiration for the Former Speaker

Greene’s Praise for Pelosi as She Announces Retirement

On Thursday, during an appearance on CNN, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed her admiration for former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who announced she would not be seeking re-election. This marks the end of nearly four decades representing San Francisco and wraps up a significant career in Democratic politics.

While on “The Situation Room,” Greene stated, “I want to commend Nancy Pelosi. She’s had a great career for the party. I served as Speaker for her during her first term in the House, and I was very impressed with her ability to get things done. I wish we could get things done for the party the way Nancy Pelosi got things done for the party.”

Greene also congratulated Pelosi on her retirement announcement and suggested that long-serving members should consider leaving Washington sooner. “So I wish her well in retirement, but I wish she would leave Washington sooner rather than waiting until people are in their 80s,” Greene noted.

Throughout her career, Pelosi led the House in impeaching President Donald Trump twice and made headlines in 2020 for tearing up his State of the Union address. Their ongoing feud has intensified recently, with Pelosi describing Trump as a “sneaky creature,” while he continues to refer to her as “Crazy Nancy.”

In related remarks, President Trump praised Pelosi’s decision not to run again, calling it a “great service to our country.” He labeled her a “bad woman” who bore “a tremendous amount of responsibility” for what he described as a “terrible job and causing great damage and reputation to the country.”
