Blake Lively seeks $161 million in damages over alleged smear campaign related to 'It Ends With Us'

Blake Lively Claims Losses from Smear Campaign

Blake Lively asserts that she has incurred a staggering $161 million in losses due to a smear campaign surrounding the release of her film, It Ends with Us.

Her attorney contends that the actress has suffered significant financial damage, detailed as $56.2 million from past and future acting, producing, speaking engagements, and endorsements. Additionally, there’s a reported $49 million loss related to her hair care line, Blake Brown, and $22 million lost from her beverage brand, Betty Buzz/Betty Booze.

According to her legal team, Lively is also seeking at least $34 million for reputational harm.

She has filed a lawsuit against her public relations team, alleging they orchestrated a smear campaign against her after sexual harassment claims were made against co-star Justin Baldoni. Baldoni has categorically denied these allegations.

Lively claims the damages resulting from this campaign are immense, and her lawyers are pursuing punitive damages that could triple that amount.

The figures stem from disclosures made in July following Lively’s lawsuit filed on December 31, 2024.

Her attorney has not yet responded to requests for comments regarding the situation.

Lively is currently embroiled in ongoing legal issues, including her case against Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, related to the alleged harassment during the film’s production. Baldoni also countersued both Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, claiming extortion and defamation; however, a judge dismissed this $400 million lawsuit in June.

The countersuit concluded recently when U.S. District Judge Louis Lehman indicated that Baldoni and his team did not file an amended complaint. Lehman had reached out to all parties, but only Lively responded.

She has requested to continue her claim for legal expenses, which the judge approved.

Baldoni’s attorney revealed that they intentionally chose not to submit an amended complaint to maintain the right to appeal, emphasizing a focus on Lively’s claims moving forward.
