Honorary Award at the Patriot Awards
At the Patriot Awards held in Brookville, New York, Fox News senior correspondent Benjamin Hall and co-host Johnny “Joey” Jones presented the first-ever “Honorary Award.” The significance of this award’s name resonates deeply for Hall.
In March 2022, while covering the conflict in Ukraine, Hall sustained severe injuries when a Russian missile struck the vehicle he was in. Tragically, the attack claimed the lives of two journalists: Fox News photojournalist Pierre Zakrzewski and Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvsinova, leading Hall to fight for his survival.
The Honor Award is named after Hall’s daughter, Honor, who he credits as a source of strength during his recovery. “Her voice helped me get through the toughest times. It provided the focus and determination I needed,” Hall mentioned in a video during the ceremony.
Reflecting on that harrowing day, Hall described losing consciousness, only to awaken hearing a voice that guided him back to safety. He emphasized the pivotal role his daughter played in that moment.
Edan Alexander, the award’s first recipient, embodies a similar spirit of resilience. A dual American-Israeli citizen, he was taken hostage by Hamas for nearly 600 days before returning home in June. However, he chose to return to Israel to continue his service with the Israel Defense Forces after being released.
During the ceremony, Alexander expressed, “It’s truly an honor to serve Israel and stand with America; it’s been the greatest privilege of my life.”
Hall, during a segment on “Fox & Friends,” shared his experience of nearly losing his life, stating, “In the darkest moments, my daughter was there telling me I needed to get out of the car.” He credited her with saving his life and expressed deep gratitude to God for that moment of clarity he experienced.
Since that unfortunate incident, Hall has undergone numerous surgeries and, in 2023, traveled back to Ukraine for a significant interview with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
The event also marked the introduction of a new award honoring the late Charlie Kirk, which recognizes those who exemplify the values he championed, such as free speech, faith, and family.
