Prince William is said to be quite “deeply shaken” following the news of both King Charles and his wife, Duchess Kate, being diagnosed with cancer.
According to a new biography titled ‘The Windsor Legacy,’ Prince William, who is 43, was considering stepping back from his royal responsibilities in 2024. This information was shared in excerpts acquired by a publication.
However, this request did not sit well with his ailing father, who denied it.
The biography, authored by Robert Jobson, also highlights that William and Kate have become “more religious” during what has been a particularly tough year for them.
Jobson notes that while William wasn’t known for being a regular churchgoer, he has started attending services more frequently, albeit in a private manner.
A representative from Kensington Palace has yet to comment on these developments.
William recently addressed his family’s situation during an appearance on Eugene Levy’s show, ‘The Reluctant Traveler,’ in October. He mentioned that it was “great news” that Kate is now cancer-free and shared that his father’s health is improving.
He expressed that despite the positives, the pressure from Middleton’s diagnosis weighed heavily on their family of five. William remarked on how it’s easy to think that such things won’t happen to you, but when faced with it, it can really take a toll.
He added that remaining positive is important, as everyone tends to think that way, but such challenges can place you in a very difficult situation.
In September, King Charles, at 76, provided an update on his own health, admitting he was “not in the best of health.”
As for Middleton, she completed her chemotherapy in September 2024 and confirmed in January that she was in remission. At that time, she emphasized the need for time to adjust after such a diagnosis.
Since then, she has resumed her royal duties.
Recently, the couple has moved to Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park, which they view as a “fresh start” following Kate’s recovery. Reports indicate this relocation aims to help them put behind the memory of her cancer diagnosis.
Sources have mentioned that this move allows them an opportunity to turn a new page and leave behind some of their more challenging experiences.
