Why Peighton Tubre spoke out about the LSU cheating claims

Influencer Comments on LSU Quarterback’s Actions

Peyton Chubre, an influencer and passionate LSU fan, expressed that she doesn’t hold any resentment toward LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier for choosing to unfollow her on Instagram. This decision came after rumors circulated about an alleged affair between them, which she insists are based on false claims.

Chubre, who hails from Louisiana, has filed a lawsuit to defend both herself and Nussmeier against an AI-generated report that suggested he had visited her hotel room before a game. “Garrett originally followed me, but then he unfollowed me,” she noted, referencing Nussmeier’s engagement to his girlfriend, Ella Springfield, which he announced in July.

“Honestly, I can’t blame him for that. I mean, I wouldn’t want someone thinking I was involved in something like that either. It’s important to me to clear his name as well as my own,” she said.

Nussmeier, whose father is former NFL player Doug Nussmeier, and Springfield have not publicly addressed the rumors.

In a recent Instagram video, Chubre tackled the allegations of an affair, stating, “I want to address the fake news spreading about me online.” She recalled discovering a Facebook post that claimed she was having an affair with Nussmeier, adding, “When I first saw it, it had 30 likes. I thought, ‘This is ridiculous,’ and hoped it would fade away.”

Chubre continued, “Spoiler alert: It didn’t. It’s strange that he’s been trying to reach me and even contacting my family over this.” She also commented on the timing of the rumors, pointing out that it coincided with an LSU vs. Alabama match. “They claim to be an LSU fan page, but posting this during Bama week is the opposite.”

After the game on November 8, where the Tigers fell to Alabama 20-9, Chubre mentioned receiving yet another claim suggesting Nussmeier had sent inappropriate photos, which she dismissed as unfounded. “If you look at my posts, you’ll see I don’t share anything like that,” she asserted. “It’s all just fake.”
