Jack Schlossberg Announces Campaign for Congress
Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of President John F. Kennedy, shared on Tuesday that he is embarking on a campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives, aiming to succeed Jerry Nadler, a long-serving Democratic congressman from New York who is retiring.
At 32 years old, Schlossberg, a Democrat, informed his supporters via email that he would officially launch his campaign on Wednesday. He also released a campaign video on social media late Tuesday, making his intentions clear to voters.
In the video, Schlossberg emphasized the need for a congressman who can truly tap into the district’s creativity and energy, transforming it into political influence in Washington. He didn’t hold back in his criticism of former President Donald Trump, accusing him of corruption and claiming he has created a “constitutional crisis.”
“This is a corruption crisis,” Schlossberg stated. “The president has made almost $1 billion this year. He’s picking winners and losers from inside the Oval Office. That’s not capitalism, it’s cronyism.” He further asserted that a “dangerous person” currently controls all three branches of government, infringing on civil rights and silencing dissenters.
Schlossberg has been vocal about his critiques of the Trump administration, building a significant social media presence where he regularly addresses national issues. Notably, he has also taken aim at Robert F. Kennedy Jr., his cousin and current Health Secretary.
His activism extends to creative expressions too. Recently, he shared a post featuring a “MAHA Man” Halloween costume on Instagram, which cleverly referenced President Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” slogan.
Regarding Nadler, the congressman has represented New York’s 12th District for 17 terms and announced his decision not to seek re-election last September. He suggested that new, younger Democrats might bring a fresh perspective to the seat. This district covers parts of Manhattan, including the Upper West Side, Upper East Side, and Midtown.
