Kid Rock Honors Charlie Kirk with Song Tribute
Kid Rock recently paid heartfelt homage to the late Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, by adding a personal verse to Cody Johnson’s song “Till You Can’t.”
Rock is set to perform at the Hondo Rodeo Fest, stepping in for Johnson, who is currently recovering from a ruptured eardrum. According to reports, during a recent performance, Rock took a moment to reflect on the significance of the song and how it inspired him to make changes. He described a moment of clarity he had one morning that compelled him to add the new lyrics.
“A few weeks ago, I woke up early on a Sunday morning — it was quiet, and I couldn’t shake this song from my mind,” Kid Rock shared with the audience.
“At that moment, something or someone told me there was a verse missing, and I needed to write it down,” he continued, revealing that a photo of Kirk appeared on a screen behind him as he spoke.
Rock sang lines infused with themes of faith and redemption, expressing sentiments like, “There’s a book somewhere in your house that might dust you off / There’s a man who died for all our sins / Hanging on a cross.” The new verses, set against the backdrop of his acoustic guitar, resonatеd deeply with those present.
He wrapped up the performance by returning to Johnson’s original lyrics. As the song concluded, the stage lights faded, leaving only Kirk’s image illuminated, creating a poignant moment for everyone in attendance.
