Democrats Shifting Focus to Epstein Falsehood to Divert Attention from Their Shutdown

Trump Criticizes Democrats Over Epstein Emails

President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that Democrats are rehashing the “Jeffrey Epstein hoax” to divert attention from their failing handling of the government shutdown and other issues.

His remarks came shortly after White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt urged reporters to question Democrats regarding the redaction of Virginia Giuffre’s name in one of several Epstein-related emails released that day. Giuffre, who previously worked at Mar-a-Lago, discussed Trump in her newly published memoir, saying he had always been friendly to her.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “Democrats are bringing back the Jeffrey Epstein hoax, as they will do anything to distract from how bad they did with the government shutdown and many other topics. Only very bad or stupid Republicans would fall into that trap.”

He further criticized Democrats for their actions, saying they have cost the country $1.5 trillion and endangered many people with their recent behavior surrounding the shutdown.

Trump emphasized his stance, asserting that there should be no leniency regarding Epstein or others involved. He advised Republicans to concentrate on reopening the country and addressing the damage caused by Democrats.

Following this, he made another post reiterating his point: “In other words, Democrats are using the Jeffrey Epstein hoax to distract from their massive failures, especially their most recent one: the government shutdown!”

Earlier, during a press conference, Leavitt addressed questions about the emails, asserting they proved nothing wrong on Trump’s part. She pointed out that both Trump and Epstein resided in Palm Beach, which was often highlighted in Epstein’s correspondence.

In a 2011 email from Epstein to the late Ghislaine Maxwell, reference was made to Trump, noting that Trump’s name “never came up” during their conversations. Giuffre, who had previously worked at Mar-a-Lago, stated that Maxwell had hired her, and Leavitt claimed Trump had barred Epstein from Mar-a-Lago, calling him a “pedophile” and “creepy.”

Leavitt noted that according to CBS News reporting, Giuffre had mentioned no inappropriate behavior from Trump, praising his professionalism and friendliness towards her. She then challenged reporters to question Democrats about the redaction of Giuffre’s name, underscoring the importance of addressing why victims’ names were omitted from public records. “This is a question worth asking the Democrats,” she stated.
