UFC fighter criticizes the possibility of a fight at the White House

Brandon Roybal Responds to Proposed Fight at the White House

UFC fighter Brandon Roybal has firmly rejected the notion of a fight taking place at the White House as part of the celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary. This idea, floated by the Trump administration, seems to have caught him off guard.

UFC president Dana White has expressed intentions of organizing what he claims would be “the best fight card ever put together” next June on the White House lawn. It sounds ambitious, but how practical is it really?

During a recent podcast, Roybal made his feelings clear. “I don’t really care about the so-called White House battle,” he said. Instead, he’s focused on fighting in front of fans who genuinely support him. “What’s the White House stadium? Is that even a thing? I want a big crowd,” he emphasized.

He went on to voice his disinterest in performing for politicians, labeling it as something akin to “Hunger Games.” The thought of putting on a show for wealthy elites doesn’t sit well with him. “I want to fight in front of true fans, the kind of people who connect with me,” he explained, implying that this is where his heart truly lies.

Roybal even mentioned concerns about the current political climate, expressing a kind of disbelief about the scenario. “Honestly, I just don’t want to be part of that,” he said. “Who knows what might even happen? I could be in Mexico next, and I don’t even speak Spanish.”

White had mentioned in October that the build-up for this unprecedented event would begin as soon as February, and though he has been addressing various aspects of it, plans are still reportedly in their infancy.

As for Roybal, he has his sights set on his upcoming fight against Manel Cape in a flyweight bout at UFC Vegas 112 scheduled for December 13th. This is where he feels he can really shine, away from the political stage.
