Livvy Dunne praises Paul Skenes for his Cy Young victory

Olivia Dunn, a former gymnast from LSU, celebrated her boyfriend Paul Skeens for winning the National League Cy Young Award on Wednesday.

Skeens had an impressive year, finishing with a league-best ERA of 1.97 and racking up 216 strikeouts. This marked his second All-Star selection and made him the first pitcher since Dwight Gooden to secure both the Cy Young Award and Rookie of the Year honors.

Dunn shared her excitement on X, noting, “Cy Young Skeens has a great ring to it.” She also posted a TikTok showcasing the contrast between Skeens’ shy reaction when he won Rookie of the Year versus his joyful response to the Cy Young victory. This time, he celebrated with a joyful fist pump before they embraced.

The couple has been together for more than a year, with Dunn often seen cheering him on at Pirates games.

While Skeens’ recent success has sparked speculation about his future with the Pirates, he addressed those concerns. “I don’t know where that came from,” he remarked, emphasizing that his goal remains to bring victories to Pittsburgh.

He expressed confidence in the Pirates’ potential to become a World Series-caliber team, stating, “I want to be one of the 26 people who change that.” This reflects a hopeful outlook despite some skepticism among fans.

In related news, Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal was awarded the American League Cy Young Award for the second year in a row.
