Harvest Crusade to Take Place at Utah University Where Charlie Kirk Was Tragically Killed

Harvest Crusade Event Planned in Utah

Pastor Greg Laurie from California is set to organize a Harvest Crusade event at Utah Valley University (UVU), notably the site of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk this past September.

Anticipating around 10,000 attendees, the event, titled “Hope for America,” is scheduled for November 16. In addition, over 60 local congregations in Utah will host livestream gatherings to extend participation.

Laurie, who leads Harvest Fellowship in Riverside, initially had plans to hold the event next summer. However, he mentioned reaching out to Utah pastors upon learning of the urgent need within the community. “We asked if there was anything we could do. They said, ‘Please come sooner. Our community is hurting,'” Laurie recalled.

Responding to this need, the team committed to a date just six weeks away—unprecedented for them, as they usually require at least a year for event planning. “There’s urgency, and we believe the Gospel message is the answer,” Laurie stated.

In a recent discussion on the Charlie Kirk Show, Laurie expressed his admiration for Kirk’s dedication to youth engagement, noting they had met a few years back and spoke again during a pastoral conference somewhat recently.

This upcoming event follows the tragic incident when Kirk was shot during TPUSA’s “American Comeback Tour” on the UVU campus on September 10.

“His boldness to share the gospel with hurting communities like Utah Valley University is exactly what America needs right now: a clear and unapologetic message of hope, salvation, and truth found only in Jesus Christ,” Laurie emphasized.

Pastor Lucas Miles, senior director of TPUSA Faith, expressed deep respect for Laurie’s ministry, acknowledging the valuable work achieved through the Harvest Crusade.
