Eric Trump faced harsh ridicule after promoting cryptocurrency: ‘Out of touch’

Eric Trump’s Cryptocurrency Comments Draw Criticism

On Thursday, Eric Trump faced significant backlash after he discussed cryptocurrency on FOX Business. During an appearance on “Morning with Maria,” he criticized traditional banking, particularly focusing on the delays involved with wire transfers. He claimed that cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, provide a solution by enabling instant money transfers.

Trump expressed frustration, stating, “There’s no way you can do a quick wire transfer at 5 p.m. on a Friday. You can’t do that right now. I’m trying to send money every week, and you’re trying to squeeze in before the 5 p.m. deadline to get the money or pay it out. What’s going on with modern finance?”

He further touted the benefits of Bitcoin, saying, “At 5 o’clock on a Sunday night, while having a glass of wine with my wife, I can transfer $500 million worth of Bitcoin with virtually no fees.” As a co-founder of American Bitcoin, he emphasized the advantages of cryptocurrencies in comparison to traditional financial methods.

This statement didn’t go unnoticed. Critics quickly pointed out that Trump’s perspective may reflect a disconnect from average Americans’ experiences. For instance, MSNBC’s Matt Fuller remarked, “Don’t let anyone tell you the Trump family doesn’t care about rising costs.”

Political commentator Franklin Leonard chimed in with skepticism, asking, “Is that before or after figuring out how to support his family without the SNAP payments that his father asked the Supreme Court to block? Or to pay the medical bills that his administration is sure to increase? I just want to get the order right.”

Other commentators joined in on the discussion. Sam Stein from Bulwark joked, “I’m like Eric. Every day except Sunday night I try to order Instacart for my family until the low-grade gummies start.” Colin Jones humorously added, “Just like all normal Americans do.”

Ron Filipkowski, the editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch, also weighed in, quipping, “They love you, MAGA. Everything they do is for you.” Meanwhile, MeidasTouch sarcastically referred to Trump as “a man among the people,” amplifying the critiques surrounding his remarks.
