Fauci Celebrates CNN Milestone with Blitzer
Anthony Fauci, who previously headed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, seems to be enjoying life years after his prominent role during the turbulent coronavirus pandemic. He was seen at a celebration for Wolf Blitzer’s 35th anniversary at CNN.
CNN’s notable figures gathered at Cafe Milano recently for this occasion. The event included posters marking the 20th anniversary of “Situation Room” alongside Blitzer’s extensive tenure at the network.
Guests were treated to sparkling wine and prosciutto as they commemorated Blitzer’s achievements. Mark Thompson humorously remarked on how Blitzer always seems to appear just in time for news broadcasts. After greeting attendees with friendly handshakes, Blitzer likely faced some sore arms the next day. However, attendees noted the absence of any themed cocktails—perhaps to prevent any unexpected news that would pull Blitzer back into the “situation room” during the festivities.
A diverse array of notable attendees marked the event, with Fauci among them.
Others spotted at the gala included Rahm Emanuel, Seungmin Kim, Casey Hunt, and various CNN personalities and diplomats. Their presence highlighted the depth of connections in the media and political world.
Throughout the pandemic, Fauci faced heavy scrutiny regarding his strategies, notably his advocacy for mask-wearing, including double-masking, while navigating criticism from those skeptical of vaccines.
He also found himself in discussions about the source of the virus, especially when, shortly after President Trump’s second inauguration, a White House update suggested the virus could have leaked from a research lab in Wuhan—an idea Fauci has consistently dismissed.
Senator Rand Paul has been a prominent critic, even filing a criminal complaint against Fauci, alleging that he misled about NIH funding connected to gain-of-function research in Wuhan.
