Tom Brady’s CardVault Store Targeted in $10,000 Theft
Last month, around $10,000 worth of collectible cards were stolen from Tom Brady’s CardVault store in New York City. The incident took place just before noon on October 20, and now, the New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a suspect connected to this grand theft.
According to police reports, the alleged thief tried to pay with a credit card. When the transaction didn’t go through, surveillance footage revealed that the suspect began to manually enter commands into the contactless payment terminal, doing so unnoticed by the store employee. This led to a successful escape with about $9,710 in baseball and Pokémon cards.
The suspect is described as a male of medium complexion. Witnesses reported seeing him wearing a black baseball cap and hooded sweatshirt, along with black shorts, white socks, and white sneakers. He also had a multicolored bag with him.
The authorities are urging anyone who might have information regarding this theft to reach out to the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline. Brady, along with his business partner Chris Costa, opened this Soho store last month.
Costa mentioned that many customers have shown interest in their individual card selections, suggesting that Pokémon cards, in particular, appeal to a broad range of people. He also noted that unique cards could potentially be tracked due to their serial numbers, which may help in recovering stolen items.
To prevent theft, CardVault maintains a dedicated team for loss prevention and collaborates with the NYPD. It’s worth noting that this store is part of a growing number of CardVault locations across the U.S., including cities like Dallas, East Hampton, Chicago, and Boston.
