New Film “One Battle After Another” Now Streaming

Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” widely regarded as one of the year’s standout films, is now available for streaming at home.

Released in theaters on September 26, the movie dominated the box office during its opening weekend. It has since earned $197 million, setting a record as Anderson’s highest-grossing film to date.

In the film, Leonardo DiCaprio portrays Bob Ferguson, a disillusioned revolutionary who lives a reclusive life, worried about his past affecting his teenage daughter, Willa (Chase Infinity). When Willa disappears, only to reemerge as the corrupt Colonel Stephen J. Lockjaw (Sean Penn) from revolutionary times, Bob is thrust back into a tumultuous quest to rescue her.

This action thriller draws inspiration from Thomas Pynchon’s novel “Vineland” and marks Anderson’s second adaptation of a Pynchon work, following 2014’s “Inherent Vice.”

In a review from Post entertainment critic Johnny Oleksinski, the film was described as “spacious, violent, sweaty, raunchy, and exhilarating,” earning 3.5 out of 4 stars. He noted, “At nearly three hours, this ambitious film never feels weighed down by its length. ‘Battle’ is both a sprint and a marathon—by the end, I felt a bit breathless.”

Streaming Availability

“One Battle After Another” can be streamed on demand on services like Prime Video. It became available for digital viewing on November 14.

The film is available for digital purchase on Prime Video for $24.99 or can be rented for $19.99. Though you don’t need a Prime subscription to buy the film, you do need at least a free Amazon account to watch it anytime.

If you rent it, you’ll have access for 30 days, with the film expiring 48 hours after you start watching.

DVD and 4K Release Details

If you prefer physical copies, “One Battle After Another” will be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD starting January 20. Pre-orders are open on Amazon, allowing you to receive the disc on its release date.
