Millie Bobby Brown Stands Up for Herself on Red Carpet

Millie Bobby Brown recently showcased her confidence by standing up for herself at the “Stranger Things” Season 5 screening in London on November 13. As she posed for photographers, who were urging her to smile, the 21-year-old actress shot back with, “Smile? You’re smiling!” before walking off, a clear indication that she wouldn’t be pushed to conform to someone else’s idea of good behavior.

At the event, Brown looked stunning in a strapless corset dress, complemented by sheer black tights and black shoes. She accessorized with delicate rings and dangling earrings, opting for subtle makeup while letting her long brunette hair cascade down her back, with just a hint pinned at the front.

Previous Encounters with Photographers

This isn’t the first time Brown has faced the media’s questioning tone. Back in March, she addressed hurtful comments on social media about her appearance, expressing her frustration over the negativity. “Oh my god, what did she do with her face? Why did she make it blonde? She looks 60 years old!” she recounted, voicing her concerns about harsh judgments and their impact, especially on young girls in the industry.

She mentioned an understanding of the paparazzi’s role, even though it can feel invasive. “I respect journalism,” she said, recognizing the complexities that come with fame.

Interestingly, she’s not alone in her experiences on the red carpet. Other stars have confronted photographers as well. For example, in October 2024, Chapel Lawn expressed discontent towards a cameraman, claiming he had been rude at a previous event. Similarly, Hannah Waddingham told a photographer at the Olivier Awards to stop making inappropriate requests.

Through her experiences, Brown encourages young women to embrace their choices, whether it’s trying out a new hairstyle or experimenting with bold makeup. It’s a message about personal freedom and, perhaps, a gentle reminder that everyone deserves respect and kindness, especially in the public eye.
