Comedian Jeff Dye Considers Leaving California for Texas

Comedian Jeff Dye is following a trend of entertainers departing from Los Angeles. On “The Joe Rogan Experience,” he expressed significant worries about California’s future under Governor Gavin Newsom, revealing plans to purchase a home in Texas.

Dye shared, “I could be guilty of getting caught up in the trends of L.A., maybe even influenced by the algorithm. But honestly, Gavin Newsom gives me the creeps. I just don’t want to be involved with it.” His comments highlight a growing discontent among some Californians.

He further mentioned his concern about the government’s response to the recent fires that devastated parts of Los Angeles earlier this year, calling it a “real wake-up call.” He described the handling of the fires as “pretty scary” and suggested that the response was insufficient.

The fires resulted in massive devastation, claiming 29 lives and destroying over 16,000 structures. Critics have targeted Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for their management during this crisis, suggesting more proactive measures were needed to address the wildfire risk. Issues such as inadequate water supplies and firefighting resources were highlighted by residents frustrated with the slow recovery process.

During the podcast, Dye also commented on celebrities who threaten to leave the U.S. if Donald Trump wins again. He remarked on their claims, suggesting that while some people follow through, many do not. “It’s interesting how some actually mean it,” he noted. He expressed respect for celebrities like Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres, who did leave the country following Trump’s election, with O’Donnell detailing her move to Ireland.

In reflecting on the broader challenges faced by California, especially concerning leadership and disaster preparedness, Dye’s thoughts resonate with many who are contemplating their own futures in the state. His concerns about government responsiveness and public safety indicate a shifting perspective among residents, especially in light of recent events.
