What AJ Brown shared with the Eagles owner during a surprising on-field encounter

Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie chose not to delve into receiver AJ Brown’s social media grievances during a closed-door session.

According to team officials, Lurie and Brown had a brief, ten-minute discussion on the field during practice to address Brown’s dissatisfaction with his role in the team’s offense, as reported by ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio.

Brown assured Lurie that he would refrain from airing grievances online but expressed a strong desire to be more involved in the offense.

Lurie reassured Brown, saying, “You don’t need to apologize,” and the two shared a hug before Brown rejoined practice.

“It was a very friendly meeting,” Paolantonio mentioned on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” prior to the Eagles-Lions game. “AJ Brown was repentant.”

The encounter was set up by Eagles’ security chief Dom DiSandro, who indicated that Brown should speak with Lurie.

Team sources noted this was quite unusual; in DiSandro’s 28 years with Lurie, he had never facilitated a player meeting like this on the field before.

Paolantonio added that DiSandro frequently attends private dinners involving Lurie and players.

This meeting followed a day after Brown openly criticized the Eagles’ offensive strategy.

Brown told the media, “This isn’t solely about my situation. I want to win too. If our focus is genuinely on winning, we can’t just keep slapping a Band-Aid on an underperforming offense as if that’s going to suffice. At what point do we step up?”

“I’m attempting to push for improvement… You can’t simply keep patching it up and expect success down the line. That’s unrealistic.”

On Tuesday night, Brown had a moment that garnered attention on social media when he remarked that it felt like “a show” in Philadelphia.

Twitch streamer Junkie Rondo, who was gaming with Brown, prompted him to say that everything was “all good.” Brown replied, “No, no. Where have you been? My family’s fine. Everything else? Just for show.”

Later, with a chuckle, Brown joked, “If you draft me for fantasy, just trade me away,” clearly in a light-hearted mood.

He conveyed to reporters that he felt no need to apologize for his comments made in the video.

“I’ve been saying the same thing all season,” Brown remarked. “So if I jest about my situation with a friend on Twitch, I won’t be sorry for that. It’s evident to anyone paying attention.”

“I’m genuinely trying to laugh through this tough situation. It’s hard, but humor is my way of coping. It is what it is.”

As of now, Brown has recorded 31 catches for 408 yards and three touchdowns over eight games this season.

The Eagles, with a record of 7-2, aim to secure their fourth consecutive win against the Detroit Lions, who stand at 6-3, this Sunday night.
