Madison LeCroy’s Remarks at BravoCon
Madison LeCroy recently called on performers to show some “respect” during the “Spilling the Sweet Southern Hospitality Tea” panel at BravoCon, specifically after Bradley Carter made some pointed comments about Austin Kroll.
During the discussion, Carter expressed concerns regarding several stars from Southern Charm, suggesting they didn’t fully support LeCroy’s new spin-off, Southern Hospitality, which showcases the staff at Leva Bonaparte’s Republican Garden & Lounge.
“I get the feeling Austin Kroll isn’t a fan of our show, even if he puts on a friendly front,” Carter shared. He clarified that while he does have a good rapport with Kroll, there are moments when Kroll might feel threatened by others’ successes.
Mia Alario seemed to agree with Carter’s viewpoint, simply saying, “Great answer.” The tension regarding Kroll’s feelings surfaced again when a fan inquired about any “hostility” towards him at the panel; this inquiry followed Southern Hospitality‘s premiere eight years after Southern Charm began airing.
Kroll promptly dispelled any notion of animosity, stating, “The immediate answer is no,” but LeCroy quickly added, “Respect your elders.” Kroll mentioned that after the panel, Carter reached out to him, saying, “I knew you’d be cool with it, being so close.” However, Kroll admitted that there had been some discussions among the Southern Charm cast when Southern Hospitality was first announced.
“When their show kicked off, we did text about it. It’s a cozy community. This room feels about the same size as living in Charleston,” he noted. “We’ve had our chats, and I genuinely like all of them as individuals,” he finished, echoing LeCroy’s call for respect.
Whitney Sadler Smith, the creator and executive producer of Southern Charm, remarked that he didn’t receive the same feedback during the lead-in show, which included a review of My 1,000-lb Sisters. He stepped back, emphasizing that there was “no animosity” and that they all appreciate each other.
In a chat with Decider, Bonaparte and Mijols Peña shared more about the rumors purportedly stemming from Kroll. Peña remarked, “I don’t have any issues with Austin. However, on the streets, people have come up saying, ‘Oh, I was just hanging out with Austin, and he talked about you guys a lot.’”
Bonaparte wasn’t shocked to hear that Kroll might have said negative things about her show. She commented, “Austin can be a lot of fun, but he’s also a bit of a trash talker. I care for him, and we generally get along, but I wish he wouldn’t speak poorly of my project. He can be lovable, yet there are times I feel like saying, ‘Cut it out, don’t say things like that about something I’m passionate about.’”
