Meghan Markle Faces Backlash Over Latest Collection
Meghan Markle has come under fire for her recent ‘As Ever’ collection launch. Over the weekend, the Duchess of Sussex posted a video on Instagram featuring beige and brown stockings set against a backdrop of neutral-toned Christmas decorations.
In the video, Markle, dressed in olive green, quipped, “Ah, I see you! It’s not Thanksgiving yet and you’re already putting this in your bag.” The muted theme sparked conversations online, with some users highlighting the irony of her choices.
Critics pointed out her previous comments about wearing neutral colors to fit in with royal expectations. One social media user remarked, “This color scheme can be beautiful, but it’s risky for a brown-themed Christmas—everyone will be outdoors.” Another person humorously added, “She can’t admit she likes beige. There’s nothing wrong with that, but she should come clean about her past claims on color choices in the UK.”
Markle discussed her wardrobe decisions in Netflix’s 2022 series, Meghan & Harry, stating that during her time in the UK, she “rarely wore color.” She explained that avoiding similar colors to senior royals was a way to blend in, saying, “I wore a lot of muted tones, but it was also just to fit in. I didn’t want to embarrass my family.”
This latest criticism follows a period of upheaval for Markle and Prince Harry, as their communications director, Emily Robinson, recently resigned after a brief tenure. Despite Robinson’s contributions to various successful projects, her departure has reignited scrutiny about the couple’s ventures in Hollywood.
The resignation has prompted some experts to question the stability and branding strategy of the Sussexes. British royal expert Hilary Fordwich noted that the ongoing leadership changes only seem to add to the confusion surrounding their public image. There are claims that Markle has struggled to follow her advisors’ directions, creating a challenging work environment for those involved with her.
The conversation surrounding Markle’s collection and her choices continues to unfold as public interest remains high.
