Cuomo Questions Democrats on Epstein Document Release
On Monday, Chris Cuomo of NewsNation expressed skepticism about Democrats’ assertion that their hesitance to release documents related to Jeffrey Epstein was linked to the ongoing investigation into Ghislaine Maxwell.
During a recent appearance on CNN’s “The Arena,” Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett suggested that the “pending litigation” against Maxwell was a primary factor for the Democrats’ reluctance. However, Cuomo argued on his show that the Maxwell investigation shouldn’t hinder inquiries into other individuals connected to Epstein.
“The left is always talking about the victims, but I find that hard to agree with,” Cuomo remarked. “It’s not that the victims are clamoring for transparency; rather, it seems to me that Democrats, under Biden, weren’t particularly vocal about needing transparency.” He further questioned the credibility of the reasoning, saying, “The Maxwell investigation is ongoing. So, is it really true that there can’t be other investigations happening simultaneously?”
SiriusXM host Stephen A. Smith also weighed in, criticizing Democrats for not advocating for the release of files during Biden’s presidency. “Let’s not forget, the Epstein files were around throughout the Biden administration! Why was there no action then when the urgency seems so pronounced now?” he challenged.
Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania echoed this sentiment on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” expressing frustration that these questions had lingered for years without answers.
In a separate development, former President Donald Trump shifted his stance after a petition to release Epstein-related documents met the necessary threshold for a House vote. He urged House Republicans to support the release on Sunday, with voting scheduled for the upcoming Tuesday.
