Confessions of a Murderous Couple in Court
A couple involved in a horrifying crime confessed in court, detailing how they attacked two of their housemates with a butcher knife and then dismembered their bodies, scattering remains across Long Island.
Jeffrey McKee, 40, received a 22-year sentence instead of life after alleging he was a victim of abuse by one of the victims. His girlfriend, Alexis Nieves, 35, was sentenced to 11 years due to a plea agreement.
Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney stated, “While the crime committed was violent and tragic, justice in this case required balancing accountability for the harm caused with recognition of a documented history of abuse that we cannot comment on.”
The couple admitted to killing Malcolm Craig Brown, 53, and his wife, Donna Connealy, 59, at their apartment in Amityville in 2024.
Nieves attacked Connealy with a meat tenderizer, while McKee fatally stabbed Brown. They, along with two other housemates, then dismembered the bodies using a butcher knife, leading to blood and body parts clogging the house’s plumbing.
Parts of the victims were later found scattered across Suthers Pond Park and Bethpage State Park over a week in late February and early March 2024. The grisly discovery began when students found Brown’s severed arm on their way to school.
Police subsequently uncovered two decapitated heads in the same park, prompting speculation that the Long Island gang MS-13 might be involved.
During the hearing, McKee’s lawyers presented a psychiatric report that detailed the abuse he allegedly suffered, but the specifics of the report were kept sealed by the court.
Under the Domestic Violence Victims Justice Act of 2019, judges can impose lighter sentences on domestic violence victims if they can demonstrate that the abuse was a significant factor in their crime.
Two other residents from the Amityville home, Brown’s cousins Stephen Brown, 46, and Amanda Wallace, 42, had previously pleaded guilty to felony charges related to abandoning bodies and a robbery committed a week earlier. All four admitted to dismembering the bodies to avoid police scrutiny.
They had also participated in a knife robbery with McKee just days before the murders, using the same knife for both crimes.
As part of a plea deal, Stephen Brown is set to receive a five-year sentence for first-degree robbery, while Wallace is expected to serve two years. They are all scheduled for sentencing on January 13th.
