Illegal Immigrant Arrested in Texas
An illegal immigrant, wanted since 2023 for allegedly attacking a woman with a tire iron and then sexually assaulting her, was apprehended by federal authorities in Texas last week. Cesar Orlando Castro Serrano, originally from El Salvador, was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the Houston suburb of Katy on November 10, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
“This brutal criminal beat a 22-year-old Houston woman in the head with a tire iron, sexually assaulted her, and left her in critical condition in a wooded area behind an apartment complex to die. This heinous predator should have no place in our country,” commented Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
Castro-Serrano is facing serious charges, including aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated kidnapping. He had been on the run since February 2023 when the horrific incident occurred.
After two years of evading authorities, McLaughlin expressed relief at the arrest, stating that ICE agents ensured the criminal faced justice. She emphasized the commitment of the current administration to apprehend those who victimize American citizens. “If you are coming to our country illegally and victimizing American citizens, we will find you and arrest you. That is a promise,” she added.
Notably, Castro-Serrano entered the U.S. illegally in 2015 during the Obama administration, and an immigration judge ordered his deportation the following year. After his arrest, he was handed over to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and ICE has filed a motion to keep him in federal custody until his legal matters are resolved.
