As we transition from Week 11 to Week 12, it’s that time of the season where you’re either clinging to a playoff spot or beginning to accept your fate. Hopefully, you’re still in contention, and maybe these upcoming rankings help you strategize during the bye week for four teams.
Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders, Miami Dolphins
RJ Harvey, Kimani Vidal, Chris Rodriguez, Devon Ashen
Kenneth Gainwell, Steelers at Bears
Gainwell’s performance this season has been solid, trailing only Jalen Warren. Even though he missed a significant part of last week’s match against the Bengals, he managed nine rushes for 24 yards while also catching seven of eight for 81 yards and two touchdowns. After the game, Warren expressed optimism about his health, which is pretty standard for players. I have a feeling Warren might get some rest this week, allowing Gainwell to shine against a less formidable defense.
Jacobs had to sit out Week 11 against the Giants due to a knee contusion. Fortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any structural damage, but he might still miss this week’s clash with the Vikings. If that happens, Emmanuel Wilson will likely step up.
Warren was out for the Week 11 game due to an ankle injury. He mentioned to reporters post-game that he could have returned. If he’s still sidelined, Kenny Gainwell will probably have a great chance to start against the Bears this week.
Tuten rolled his ankle during the Jaguars’ dominating win over the Chargers in Week 11 and didn’t return to the game. He was sharing carries with Travis Etienne and had a decent outing, rushing for 75 yards and scoring a touchdown. However, given his injury, it wouldn’t be surprising if he also misses the upcoming matchup against the Cardinals.
Rhamondre Stephenson, Patriots
Stephenson has been out for the past three games because of a toe injury, so his availability this week is still uncertain. Treveyon Henderson has been getting more opportunities in his absence, and it seems likely that even if Stephenson comes back, he may lose some touches going forward.
Benson suffered an injury in Week 4 and had arthroscopic surgery on his meniscus. Originally, he was projected to return in four to six weeks, but it looks like he’ll be out longer. Without Benson, the team is left with several backs sharing the workload.
Omarion Hampton, Chargers
Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh mentioned that he doesn’t expect Hampton back until after their Week 12 bye, but we’ll see if that holds true.
Irving has missed the last six games due to shoulder and ankle injuries, but he’s back at practice now and has a chance to play this week. Sean Tucker just had a strong performance recently, and Rathard White has shown some promising play in Irving’s absence. I think Irving will re-establish himself as the No. 1 guy, but there could be a bit of an adjustment period.
Pacheco faced a knee injury late in Week 8 during the game against the Commanders, resulting in an MCL sprain. He ended up missing the last three weeks. It’ll be interesting to see if he can make a comeback this week.
