Shedur Sanders Addresses Jewelry Loss After NFL Debut
During his NFL debut, Browns rookie quarterback Shedur Sanders shared that all of his jewelry was lost following a robbery that resulted in about $200,000 worth of stolen property from his home. This unfortunate incident occurred while he faced the Ravens on Sunday.
With Dillon Gabriel still in concussion protocol, Sanders is set to make his first career start against the Raiders in Week 12. He brought up the robbery incident during a press conference on Wednesday, stating, “None of my jewelry was taken…I just slipped and got caught,” eliciting laughter from reporters. “It happens.”
Sanders, son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colorado football coach Deion Sanders, reflected on the situation when asked about his proudest moments growing up. He expressed confidence saying, “I can say that there is no doubt in my mind.” He added, “I know it’s a trend to have my house broken into, but honestly, I’m not really in a place where I’m mentally challenged right now.”
Despite a tough game against Baltimore—where he completed just 4-of-16 passes and was intercepted—Sanders felt optimistic. He noted, “Mentally and emotionally, I’m in a great place overall. Life has adversities, and things don’t always go as planned, but I will say that I am ready for everything.”
Comments about his performance and the coaching preparation have sparked criticism from figures like Shannon Sharpe and Cam Newton, who questioned how ready Sanders was for the challenge of starting. However, he seemed unfazed and committed to sticking to his preparation style leading up to the matchup against a struggling Raiders team, which holds a 2-8 record.
Overall, he conveyed a mix of resilience and reflection, acknowledging the challenges he faces, both on and off the field.
