Teen girl astonishingly survives after being stabbed 14 times by 'devoted' former coworker

18-Year-Old Survives Stabbing Attack by Former Co-Worker

An 18-year-old from Oklahoma narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation after being stabbed multiple times by a former co-worker. Reports indicate that her brother played a crucial role in preventing what could have been a more tragic outcome.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning in Earlsboro, around 1:10 a.m., when 24-year-old Ronaldo Zabala confronted the girl as she attempted to enter her home, according to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office.

Details reveal that Zabala attacked the girl, inflicting 14 stab wounds primarily to her neck and wrist. During this chaotic scene, a man, believed to be her brother, intervened but suffered minor stab injuries himself.

The girl’s mother, who was alerted by the screams, called 911, expressing her panic over the attack. In a frantic call, she described how a man wearing a ski mask approached her daughter and began stabbing her, repeatedly saying, “I’m sorry.”

After the assault, Zabala fled the scene prior to the police’s arrival. Currently, the teen is reported to be in critical but stable condition.

Her brother’s bravery is being praised, with local authorities noting that he effectively saved her life. “He saved my sister’s life,” remarked Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Captain Jared Strand.

Following the attack, police swiftly identified Zabala as a suspect, executing a search warrant at his residence, which led to the discovery of items linking him to the crime. He has since been charged with aggravated assault and battery, as well as assault while masked.

Authorities believe this act of violence stemmed from a past workplace relationship between the victim and Zabala at a local movie theater, indicating a growing obsession on his part. “He was just obsessed with this woman,” stated Strand, noting that she had no interest in him, which may have pushed him to this violent act.

The teen had previously reported Zabala’s behavior and had been terminated from her job due to his actions. Officials are urging anyone experiencing similar situations to report any form of stalking immediately, as the signs can escalate into serious violence.

“If you see something like this, please report it to us right away,” Strand emphasized. “Even if it doesn’t seem like a big deal, please call us. We’ll document all the information.” The investigation remains ongoing.
