Meghan Trainor’s Weight Loss Journey

Meghan Trainor embarked on her weight loss journey after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

In a conversation with Kayla Thomas on iHeartRadio’s KIISFM, the singer shared the story behind her new song “Still Don’t Care.”

“I just posted who I was and there was a lot of hate online,” she said, reflecting on comments like, “Why are you skinny now? You were the ‘All About That Bass’ girl.” She mentioned that she started her fitness journey around age 19, which intensified during her pregnancy with gestational diabetes.

This type of diabetes occurs during pregnancy when the body struggles to produce enough insulin, leading to elevated blood sugar levels.

Trainor expressed her desire to be strong enough to tour and lift her children “out of their cribs without pulling them.” She shared, “I’m strength training three times a week. I’m really health conscious right now, focusing on hormones and gut health,” adding that feeling good is essential to her performance. However, she felt a bit shaken by the conflicting perceptions of being thin, which left her somewhat confused.

At 31, Trainor welcomed her son Riley in 2011 and Barry Bruce in 2013 with her husband Daryl Sabara. After giving birth to her second son, she began to noticeably slim down, surprising fans with her transformation in early 2025. Shortly after, she revealed that she had started a health journey that included using Munjaro for weight loss.

Additionally, the “Dear Future Husband” singer opted for breast augmentation and lift surgery. Since then, she has showcased her toned figure at various events, including Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday celebration.

Recently, Trainor responded to critics who chastised her 60-pound weight loss. “After giving birth, I focused on my health like never before. I’ve never felt better or looked more incredible,” she remarked. She noted that the criticisms had become “loud” and “sneaky,” adding, “I take care of myself. We have to find a way to not be affected by that.”

In her new song “Still Don’t Care,” she addresses those same detractors who criticized her weight fluctuations. “You can say what you want, you can say you don’t like me very much,” she sings at the start of the song, capturing her feelings about the judgments she’s faced. “When you say I’m too much, you’re probably right. It’s the same thing I’ve heard all my life—first I’m too fat, then I’m too skinny. I want to stand out, but I also want to fit in.”
