AJ Brown Speaks Out Amid Eagles’ Controversy
AJ Brown has certainly been vocal this year, but his comments on Thursday were particularly notable.
The talented wide receiver, who seems somewhat overshadowed in the Eagles’ offense lately, was questioned about reports suggesting he was unhappy with Jalen Hurts. Brown, however, sidestepped the question.
“Ask me about Dallas,” he replied, shaking his head, “thank you.”
A recent article from The Athletic indicated that Brown had concerns regarding Hurts, especially related to “his approach to zone coverage.” Apparently, there were frustrations about Hurts not being willing to throw into tighter windows downfield.
Earlier this season, while streaming video games, Brown referred to Philadelphia’s culture as a “show,” but later made a promise to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie that he would refrain from airing grievances on social media.
Speculation continues to swirl around the situation in Philadelphia.
DeSean Jackson added some intrigue this week, nearly acknowledging a rift between his friends, Brown and Hurts. “As you can imagine, there’s something else going on,” Jackson noted, reflecting on his own experiences. “It’s not just about the football, it’s not just about the X’s and O’s. I’ve faced moments with quarterbacks that were challenging. When the chemistry isn’t there, it really stands out.”
Adding to the buzz, former Eagles player Seth Joyner remarked on the surprises surrounding Hurts in Philadelphia.
Joyner pointed out a specific instance from the Eagles’ Week 6 loss to the Giants, where Hurts threw to a well-covered route that was nearly intercepted—an example of Brown perhaps being overlooked.
The Eagles, with a strong record of 8-2 this season, are certainly focused on their championship goals. However, the internal dynamics could play a significant role as they strive to defend their Super Bowl title.
This season, Brown has amassed 65 receptions for 777 yards, which, surprisingly, are on track to be career lows for him in those categories.
