House Floor Controversy: Crockett’s Epstein Comments
During a recent session, Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett from Texas made a bold claim on the House floor. She asserted that several Republicans—including EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin—had received money from someone named Jeffrey Epstein. The catch? This Epstein isn’t the notorious one.
Taking the podium, Crockett pointed fingers at notable figures such as Mitt Romney, the NRCC, Zeldin, and others like George Bush and Sarah Palin, suggesting they all had connections to this Epstein.
When pressed by CNN’s Caitlin Collins about her defense of Democratic Rep. Stacey Plaskett, who had been caught texting a different Jeffrey Epstein, Crockett appeared to waver. Collins called her out, questioning her earlier statements.
Crockett, in a bid to clarify, suggested confusion was at play. “You mentioned Lee Zeldin there. He’s a Cabinet member now. He claimed he was actually Dr. Jeffrey Epstein, who had no ties to the convicted sex trafficker,” Collins noted. “Would you like to correct the record?”
Crockett replied, “I never said it was Jeffrey Epstein.” She emphasized the importance of disclosure in donations—suggesting that just because someone donates doesn’t mean they’re inextricably linked in a nefarious way. “I was just trying to highlight potential implications for Republicans who were quick to throw accusations at us,” she explained.
Her defense continued, framing her team’s research as thorough. “We Googled, and thus I specifically mentioned ‘Jeffrey Epstein.’ Unlike Republicans, I’m not just making things up. It wasn’t the same situation,” she insisted.
However, she added, “When Lee Zeldin wanted to say something, all he had to do was clarify that it was another Jeffrey Epstein. He acknowledged receiving donations from him. So at least I wasn’t misleading anyone,” which seemed to suggest a little uncertainty in her argument.
Glenn Beck, co-founder of Blaze Media, humorously pointed out her blunder, suggesting it highlighted a messed-up narrative. “She’s trying to defend herself, claiming she wasn’t lying,” joked Beck.
Stu Bruguiere, a host at BlazeTV, chimed in as well, noting that Crockett made a mistake by mentioning Epstein without proper context. “She knew there was a chance this wasn’t the right Jeffrey Epstein,” he concluded.
Beck’s final remark was an assertion of disbelief: “She’s insane,” encapsulating the chaotic nature of the situation.
